Privacy Policy

HypoallergenicCat (“we,” “us,” or “the site”) is an independent editorial website about cat breeds and allergy management. We try to collect as little data as possible. This page explains, in plain English, exactly what we collect, why, and what choices you have.

What we collect

1. Anonymous analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how visitors arrive (search engine, direct link, referral). GA stores a randomly-generated client ID in a first-party cookie. We have configured GA with IP anonymization on and do not enable Google Signals or advertising features. We never see your name, email, or IP address.

2. Quiz answers

Our breed-match quiz runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are not sent to our server and are not stored anywhere. If you reload the page, your results disappear.

3. Email (only if you choose to subscribe)

We do not currently operate an email list. When we launch one, this page will be updated before the signup form goes live, and subscribing will be strictly opt-in via a checkbox you tick yourself.

4. Server logs

Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps short-lived access logs for security and abuse prevention. These logs contain IP addresses and user-agent strings, are not used for tracking, and are retained per Vercel’s privacy policy.

Cookies

The only cookies set on this site are Google Analytics’ measurement cookies (_ga, _ga_*). They do not personally identify you. You can block them at any time through your browser settings, an extension like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger, or by installing the official Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Affiliate links

Some external links on this site are affiliate links. When you buy a product through one of them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We disclose this in detail on our affiliate disclosure page. Affiliate networks (Amazon Associates, Chewy, etc.) may set their own cookies when you click a link — their privacy policies, not ours, govern that data.

Your rights

If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California, you have the right to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, to ask us to delete it, or to object to its processing. In practice we hold almost nothing identifiable, but you can still write to hello@hypoallergeniccats.org and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will post any material changes here with an updated date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new policy.
